XL Air Elite Cases?

Anybody using these? I was looking hard at the lined Enduros but a lot of dealers have been recommending the XL stuff. (many of them seem to dislike H&B on a personal level for some reason)

Anyone checked these out? I'm pretty anal when it comes to protecting my stuff so for some reason I'm skeptical about the "no foam" thing. Thanks.

I have the foamed XL cases, they work great but I have actualy been using these new bags from Ritter, 2 inch think foam nylon type bag.
Throw them down some stairs and they wil actually protect the drum better than a hardshell case and I am very protective of my gear.

What about for checking cymbals at the airport? Are there any with locks?

Hi Derek, I have been useing that cases last few month. I like it. Actually there is little piece of form where drum's hoops touch a inside of case on top and bottom. Has nice handle. A wheels on Bass drum case are great. I got it as new. And came with funny smell.

for cymbals I just use a bag and take it on board in the over head bin. You are allowed up to 45 centimeters and that works out to 23 inches. I have not had a problem yet and I just recently went to NY and brought my cymbals and did not get 1 look from TSA, now for drums that's a different story, I checked a snare in a case thru and they took a razor blade to the top head and peeled it like a lid on a can.
Got to NY and luckily I did not need to use the drum or I would have been screwed.

I have both Enduros and XLs for my Maple Custom kit (could'nt get all the sizes from one brand). Both came with no foam. I went to a road case shop and they gave me lots of pieces of that thick gray foam. I glued slices inside my cases in strategic places so that the drums don't move inside and to protect the hoops. These cases took a good 7-years road punishment and showed no signs of wear, never a handle or strap broke. I was never worried to see guys throw these in a truck. And my drums still look brand new. I'd say go ahead with any of these.

P.S.: Don't ever think about those cardboard-type cases, I've seen horror stories!
